Andrea Lai Bio:

Andrea Lai started playing music in a black winter day a long time ago. He shouldered a bass guitar to play in an heavy metal band with a dj (yes, but it was 19 years ago...). After ten years of bands and small labels he put that project apart and started to play at friends partyes, mixing hip hop with crossover metal, industrial music with rock'n'roll. He started working for a left wing pirate radio in Roma. Here he met Riccardo Petitti. The radio was in extreme need for money and they decided to start a night to bring some money to the radio. They called it Agatha. Nobody knows why...
Several years later he then met the first italian breakbeat label, Mantra Breaks. Natural was the release of the first Agatha compilation (Agatha - Rock'n'Roll mixed live by Lai & Petitti). Last year Andrea released on Mantra Breaks his first single ‘Moog A Cannes’/‘Roma Crew’ and then he
collaborated with Rennie Pilgrem on "noLess/This is Lationo Electro" (TCR)...

Fertilissima terra la Sicilia, anche in tema di produzioni breakbeat, è la volta oggi di Luigi Barone, aka Break The Box, al suo debutto con un ep davvero convincente, a partire dalla title track dove si concentra tutta l'obliqua e gongolante sapienza dancefloor grazie a una pulsante bassline ed alle giuste iterazioni vocali che sottolineano l'acido svirlogare dei synth. Ben costruito ma maggiormente orientato verso un groove tradizionalmete funky, nello stile che molto piace a quelli della Breakbeat Paradise, 'Drop The bass', ancora immediato nell'impatto dei sample vocali. Andamento che cresce nelle influenze techy per 'I Wanna Get You', dalla concezione efficace, semplice e diretta. Si chiude in bellezza con 'The Bluff', altrettanto ipnoide ma più dark negli umori e con ritmiche maggiormente dinamiche. Complimenti davvero a Luigi che andrà a rafforzare, siamo certi, la già vincente squadra nu skool di italiani all'estero"

Break The Box was formed in 2006 by producer and DJ Luigi Barone. Comes from Sicily Italy the Dj started working on tracks producing trip hop and downbeat in 1999 and enjoyed success as CTlab performing alongside Howie B, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Cinematic Orchestra, Carl Craig and many others. Playing such prestigious clubs and festivals as Arezzo Wave, Elettrowave, Zo (CT, resident dj 2003), MercatiGenerali (CT), Taxi Driver (CT), Tenax (Fi) Ragno D'oro (Mi) La Drogheria/Xplosiva (To), Distorsonie@Link (Bo), Terrazzamare (Jesolo, VE) Rolling Stone (MI), Youth Icons 06 @ Platform (Athen). Questa settimana per Release the Pressure lo show radiofonico di Breaks.it vi offre il set dell’ australiano Bass Kleph (Breakin Point rec), per intenderci colui che ha remixato con Nick Thayer “Feelin’ Kinda Strange” dei Drumattic Twins, preparatevi ad un viaggio nel breakbeat contemporaneo che verrà apprezzato sia dagli amanti delle sonorità spezzate che da chi predilige atmosfere più minimali.

Bass Kleph bio:

At just 25, Bass Kleph (a.k.a. Stu Tyson) has clocked up 17 years in music, drumming his way through various bands on the live/tour circuit, a deal with a major record label, even performing on national TV on several occasions.
These days Bass Kleph has firmly established himself in the global dance music scene. He has done massively successful remixes for Finger Lickin’, Warner Music, Dawn Raid and Breaking Point. One of which even picked up “Best Breaks Remix of 2005” at the annual international Breaks Poll awards in the UK. His original music is in equally high demand. So much so, that Toyota simply had to have it for the sound track to their current Hilux TV campaign.
Bass Kleph has also produced for other artists such as Felix The House Cat, Nick Thayer, Dirty D, The Street Punx, and Q45. Not only that, but he’s an accomplished mix engineer, and has mixed most of the Breaking Point records to date. .
DJ wise, he has recently mixed the sixth instalment of the In The Mix series, which has previously been blended by DJs such as Tiga and Ajax. For this release he teamed up UK breaks bad boy Hyper. They mixed one disc each and followed it up with club smashing national tour.
Bass Kleph also hosts Sydney’s premier breakbeat radio show, BEAT BOX. It showcases the week in breaks, beats, bass line electro and drum and bass. With guest mixes and interviews from artists such as Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, Soul Of Man, Pendulum, Slyde, London Elektricity, Uberzone, Paul Arnold, Block Head, Bonobo and more. The show airs every Friday at 1:30pm on 2SER 107.3, and streams over the net worldwide from www.2ser.com.
All this may need a while to sink in, but it’s on stage where you’ll instantly understand why Bass Kleph is held in such high regard. His performances have left packed clubs awe-struck Australia wide.
